Geospatial Information Architect

Job Description:

INRIX is seeking a Geospatial Information Architect to collaborate with other senior members of the Engineering and Research teams on international, state-of-the-art traffic, routing, and location based services. The Architect will have instant credibility across major automotive, mobile, and public sector navigation companies and will have the opportunity to represent us as a thought leader in this space.

Responsibilities:

The Architect will provide architectural leadership and implementation guidance for the geospatial infrastructure behind our products and services. He or she will work closely with other senior members of the product development team sharing GIS, LBS and mapping expertise on our 1) Total Fusion Traffic Engine geospatial middleware and database components of a system that computes real time and predictive traffic speeds based on our "smart dust network" of GPS probes, sensors, and other sources; 2) connected services APIs that expose services for traffic, navigation, and telematics applications.

Required Skills/Experience
  • Solid geospatial development skills, preferrably at least 8 years experience
  • Comfortable in industry-standard application development tools
  • Relational database and data analysis expertise
  • Strong understanding of map rendering, spatial data formats, geocoding, routing, and cartography
  • Outside-the-box thinking to assist us as we push the envelope on LBS products and applications
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate effectively with clients and team members
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or geospatial-related field
Desired Qualifications
  • Application use and development experience with GIS tools including ESRI's ArcGIS and ArcGIS Server (ArcSDE).
  • Familiarity with map and transportation data from TeleAtlas, NavTeq, OSM, public and other data sources
  • Experience managing or mentoring GIS analysts
  • Object oriented programming experience with Visual Studio, .Net, C#, XML, and SqlServer
  • Web development and/or neogeography experience
  • Masters or Ph.D degree in computer science or geospatial-related field

Director of USA Contracts & Alliances (part-time)

Job Description:

Attorney needed part-time in INRIX’s Kirkland offices primarily to draft, negotiate and conclude inbound and outbound data licensing agreements for the USA. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of quality experience dealing with and negotiating scopes of work, compensation and liability provisions. Must be creative, hands-on, self-sufficient team-player, who can draft and conclude contracts in conjunction with INRIX’s business personnel, but without other legal, contractual or secretarial assistance. Position will report to VP of Contracts & Alliances, who will focus primarily on international contracts.

This is a “contracts” position, not a “legal” position, but legal skills and JD degree are mandatory because of the nature of the work. Seeking a “half-time” in-house part-time employee relationship that could expand over time. For work hours, would prefer a half-day presence in our Kirkland offices (such as 10am to 3pm with lunch hour off), five days per week, but will consider other scheduling. Software Development Engineer

Overall/Primary responsibilities

INRIX is seeking an experienced mobile device application developer to implement and contribute to the design of user interfaces and client classes for a number of mobile platforms. You will need to be creative, have strong problem solving skills and have the ability to multitask in a fast paced, very dynamic environment. You will be responsible for the implementation of mobile applications for iPhone, Android OS, BlackBerry and others. You will work directly with program and product management to refine and document innovative and compelling user interface solutions that meet the business, project, and design goals and objectives.

You will drive development for a wide range of user behaviors and interaction models for both near and long term products by working directly with product and program management. Strategic thinking, creativity, and technical expertise will be critical to innovating compelling user experiences. This position requires the need to be organized, detail-oriented and results-driven. Passion for our customers and for consumers who want great user experiences is highly desired.

You will have overall responsibility for implementing a core set of mobile solutions that seamlessly fit into our overall product roadmap. You will use sketches, storyboards, scenarios, prototypes, flows, and interaction models created by product and program management that communicate the designs and help you deliver high quality implementations. You will lead by example, using in place interaction design and information architecture best practices which are backed up by your strong development knowledge and familiarity with usability principles.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in the implementation of high-quality consumer electronic products for high-volume markets within a very dynamic team environment.
  • Direct experience with iPhone development required. Blackberry, J2ME, and/or Android development experience is highly desired. Windows Mobile relevant but less desirable.
  • Direct experience with creating backend APIs to support mobile applications is highly desired but must be complemented with real mobile development experience.
  • A portfolio demonstrating breadth and creativity in UI implementations.
  • Intrinsic passion for seamless hardware/software/service integration.
  • Strong interest in and aptitude for learning new technologies and creative user interface skills.
  • Additional, hands-on experience in a secondary field such as industrial design, mechanical engineering, software engineering, etc. is highly desired as is experience in the field of human-computer interaction.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are required.

Senior Product Manager

Job Description

INRIX seeks a Senior Product Manager for Mobile Products to identify, define, and champion new business and product strategies. Success is measured by implementing ideas, concepts, and requirements into products that impact business and market opportunities, and driving the product lifecycle assuming dynamic market scenarios. The Senior Product Manager for Mobile Products focuses on competitive products, new technologies, new businesses, product profitability, and above all customers -- with heavy influence on delivery, positioning, and sales tools for the various channels. The position reports to the Vice President of Product Management.

The role will help drive the entrepreneurial spirit within INRIX by continuously innovating mobile products that win in the market.

Key responsibilities
  • Work closely with INRIX business development and product development teams to create value propositions and product opportunities that drive INRIX services adoption across mobile services, broader platforms, and various point applications.
  • Drive INRIX-branded and private-label mobile applications innovation and adoption , including managing application store marketing, social networking to enhance customer interaction, and managing a competitive feature set roadmap for development.
  • Identify the trends impacting the navigation and mobile services industry and determine the ‘fit’ for INRIX traffic information and services.
  • Develop and make the business case for new functionality, investments, and technical partnerships.
  • Lead a well orchestrated and predictable market requirements (MRD) process that defines the near and long term product strategy
  • Create customer and partner feedback loops where real customer requests are reflected in product plans
  • Communicate between product planning and product development to ensure that the company knows a product’s rationale, what customer scenarios the product addresses, and how the product adds to the INRIX bottom line.
  • Support sales and pre-sales activities in the distribution channels including sales tool, demo, and proposal development as required.

Required skills set

The successful candidate has deep, practical understanding of the mobile, location-based services market with a track record providing information-based services products directly to mobile consumers and/or indirectly through partners and providers. Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Job Description

The Connected Services test team is looking for a passionate, ambitious and experienced SDET to help build a high quality and reliable connected services platform. Our mission is to build a set of web services as the essential platform for easily accessing the traffic data and building composite traffic and other location based applications and services.

The team is actively starting work on the next iteration of our web services that builds upon the current one and extends traffic information delivery from a set of xml web services to other industry standards. There also a bunch of new and exciting technologies we are building to support mobile devices and automotive scenarios. So this is a great time to get into the game and make an impact right away on our next iteration of industry leading web services.

Primary responsibilities include test design/automation/execution, bug management, driving testability and customer focus in product specifications and designs, measuring/analyzing/communicating product and test status, working on feature teams with developers and program managers, and sharing expertise with other team members to improve overall team effectiveness. Test code will range from single API tests to mobile and web applications that use a multitude of services. The breadth of tests include everything from UI/functional tests to integration tests and load/performance tests to security tests. There are plenty of opportunities to develop testing strategies for innovative product features, and to drive engineering improvements across feature teams. There is a strong expectations wrt communicating and working closely with the feature team. Being a start-up you get to wear a PM hat, a Dev hat, a test hat and an operations one too within a typical day.

Expected qualifications include strong testing and development aptitude, 3+ years of relevant experience writing test code with C# & XML technologies and working with MS SQL using T-SQL commands. Familiarity with design, development and testing of ASP.Net web services is preferred. Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.

Traffic Operations Center (TOC) Analyst

Job Description

INRIX is seeking a technical analyst / system administrator within our Operations team to ensure a high quality traffic result. INRIX has numerous custom, complex systems to provide traffic and routing information throughout North America and the European Union. We have an opening in our North American TOC (in Kirkland, WA) for an early-shift TOC analyst. The key roles for this individual are to:

  • Keep our systems running smoothly
    • Perform routine systems checks
    • Respond to alarms
  • Improve traffic and road closure accuracy
    • By performing real time QA
    • By carefully validating all new functionality
    • By working various projects to improve accuracy

In short this role is 50% NOC Operator, 30% Technical Analyst, and 20% System Administrator.

Key responsibilities
  • Using custom tools and monitors, perform routine system quality checks throughout shift.
    • If issues are found, attempt to resolve them using the Product Support Handbook. If necessary escalate to tier 2.
    • Differentiates between critical issues and less important ones in order to make good decisions when deciding whether to escalate or not. If escalating, provides useful information to Tiers 2 and 3 to help them diagnose problems more quickly.
    • Can fix some types of problems rather than escalate.
  • Monitor production systems, checking monitors and exercising web-based systems. Communicates/escalates per the production support guide.
  • Perform road closure Quality Assurance (QA) for closures coming from multiple providers.
  • Participates in diverse pre-production and go-live validation work for new INRIX software releases.
    • Utilizes moderate SQL skills.
  • Diagnoses production quality issues as needed.
    • Takes analysis as far as reasonably possible. Does not give up too early.
    • Proactively hunts for ways that the TOC and INRIX can do better.
      • This could mean new processes, new tools, updated documentation, internal training, etc.
      • When it makes sense, takes the lead on implementing these ideas.
  • Independently executes highly complex reports and/or projects on time with quality.
  • Partners well with peer teams inside Operations, helping us get them to do what we need, and keeping our commitments to them.
    • Also works well with other groups such as Development, Science, Business Development and Marketing as needed.
    • Works well with suppliers (especially input providers) to optimize quality.
    • Helps make all other TOC team members more productive and successful.
